Indications
Olopatadine is used to relieve itchiness in the eyes caused by allergic conjunctivitis.
Pharmacology
Olopatadine is a histamine H1antagonist that reduces the type 1 acute hypersensitivity reaction in vivo and in vitro, including reduction of histamine produced effects on human conjunctival epithelial cells. The alpha adrenergic, dopamine, and muscarinic type 1 and 2 receptors are all unaffected by olopatadine.Olopatadine was found to have a minimal systemic exposure after topical ocular application in humans.

It's possible that CNS depressants will cause additive CNS depression.
Contraindications
Olopatadine Hydrochloride ophthalmic solution is not recommended for people who have a known hypersensitivity to the drug.
Side Effects
Headaches have been observed to affect 7% of people. In less than 5% of patients, the following negative experiences were reported: Asthenia, blurred vision, burning or stinging, cold syndrome, dry eye, foreign body sensation, hyperemia, hypersensitivity, keratitis, lid edema, nausea, pharyngitis, pruritus, rhinitis, sinusitis, and taste perversion are all symptoms of asthenia, pharyngitis, pruritus, rhinitis, sinusitis, and taste perversion.
Pregnancy & Lactation
In pregnant women, there are no sufficient and well-controlled trials. Because animal studies do not always predict human reactions, this medicine should only be given to pregnant women if the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the fetus.
It's unclear whether topical ocular treatment would cause enough systemic absorption to create measurable amounts in human breast milk. When administering Olopatadine Hydrochloride ophthalmic solution to a nursing mother, however, caution should be exercised.
Precautions & Warnings
Contact lens irritation should not be treated with olopatadine HCl ophthalmic solution. Soft contact lens wearers should be told to wait at least ten minutes after infusing Olopatadine Hydrochloride ophthalmic solution before putting their lenses in.
Storage Conditions
Store below 30° C in a cold, dry, and light-protected location. Keep out of children's reach. Because touching the dropper tip to surfaces can contaminate the solution, avoid doing so. After 30 days from the date of initial opening, do not use.
